Microsoft Most Valuable Profossional
MVP Award
Russ Grover is a Member of the Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals.
SBS-MVPs are exceptional technical community leaders from around the world who are awarded for voluntarily sharing their high quality, real world expertise in offline and online technical communities. Microsoft MVPs are a highly select group of experts that represents the technical community's best and brightest, and they share a deep commitment to community and a willingness to help others.

Over 100 million people participate in technical communities but there are only 46 SBS-MVPs worldwide. Outstanding technical community members are nominated by their peers, Microsoft employees, and SBS-MVPs. Each year a panel of Microsoft employees reviews the contributions of each nominee for quality, quantity, and level of impact on the technical community. Today's SBS-MVPs reflect Microsoft's global customer base and the breadth of its technologies.

SBS-MVPs are not Microsoft employees, nor do they speak on Microsoft's behalf. SBS-MVPs are third-party individuals who have received an award from Microsoft that recognizes their exceptional achievements in technical communities.

My Personal Promise to You!

I will not waste your time and money making suggestions, to just pad our pockets, and make me rich.
I believe in getting things right the first time, not band aiding things together for temporary useless solutions.

I believe in making your life simpler, not more complex
I believe in industry standards and the K.I.S.S. method of Server and PC set up, Why?
If you have another technician work on your systems, I don't want them to spend hours trying to figure out what I've done.

I also know that buying the most expensive doesn't mean it's the "BEST"
There are many Free or low cost software/hardware solutions that do the same if not provide a better solution to the same problem.

Do you require a deposit to work on my Servers/PC's?
Yes sometimes, I regretfully have had to change this policy due to delinquent payments.
Last year I had over 10K in lost revenue for services I provided.

Do you Charge for Travel Miles?
If total commute time is over 20mins one way, and less than 2hr on site, there is an additional $30 dollar  surcharge.
(Distance is Calculated from Beaverton OR 97007 USA, this does not include travel with planes.)

Do You Do Remote Support?
Yes, 80% of our clients are remote, from all over the world.
You can have us access via RDC on Port 3389 or  through Remote Web Workplace with port 443 and 4125,
or use CrossLoop to connect http://www.sbits.biz/CrossLoop.html

Here is a list of just some of our clients locations: Oregon,
Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England, Italy, Sweden, India, Philippines, and South Africa.

Do you support only Small Business Server?
I support most everything, I just specialize in Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS2008, SBS2003R2, SBS2003)
I can help you with installing: Printers, Firewalls, Networks,
WiFi, Security, VPN, RPC over HTTPS, RWW, OWA, OMA, VPN
Smart phones, Treo, Palm, BlackBerry, and others

Business Contact Manager.

Microsoft Home Versions of these also
Server: Win2003, SBS 2003, Win2008, Terminal Server

SPAM, IMF, RBL's and other exchange configurations.
SharePoint:: WSS 2.0, WSS 3.0 and IIS
WSUS: 2.0 3.0 and SP1 (Windows System Update Services)
Removal of VIRUSES, Malware, Spyware,

How many employees do you need to make SBS worth while?

Believe it or not As little as 2 employees you can find great use of a SBS server.
(Remote access, PC My Document folder backups, Auto updates and more)

What antivirus solution do you use?
Trend Micro House Worry Free Business Security for Virus control and Spam.
SBITS.Biz is a Trend Micro partner and reseller.
Datasheet Worry-Free Business Security.pdf

What kind of hardware do I need?
This really Depends on How many Users you are going to have on the server.
Also if you are any LOB or SQL, ISA or other Services.
I suggest a Single or Dual Proc 64Bit Microprocessor. (Like Intel's Xeon.)
and 4GB RAM Suggested for SBS2003 and for SBS2008 8GBMin RAM.
Min RAID1 For OS and RAID5 for more performance, so from 2-6 Drives
All this depends on what your business Needs are!
For More Detailed Information please contact SBITS.Biz.

How long does it take to install SBS Server?
It takes about 1-2 FULL Long Days to Set up and configure a SBS Server,
(This is more or less, depending on migration of database and users.)
Then about 1-3hrs For Each PC (Depending on how Ill the PC's are Serviced)
(This example is moving from a peer to Domain Environment.)
After install and PC's set up, there are always a couple of things that Pop up.
But Typically 4-5 days is average for a Small Office.
I suggest that I install the server on a weekend, (Saturday-Sunday)
This impacts most businesses less, and no, I don't charge more for this, it's just part of our service.

What are some of the questions I need to know before installing my SBS Server?http://www.sbits.biz/Preliminary_Questions_For_Installing_SBS_2003_Server.pdf

Will you help me in a remote SBS Support?
Yes, you must be willing to let me access your server if I need to,
there are some things that would take for ever for me to explain on the phone that
I can login and check in seconds, this saves you time and money by letting us do this.
If I assist you it typically takes longer than us doing the job alone...

Will you help me in a remote install? (8-hour Minimum Billing)
Yes and No, Depending on your Skill Level, I will assist you and walk you through a install.
Remember; Microsoft Suggests an On-Site Qualified Tech to install a SBS Server.
(I will have to talk to you first, to see if I will work on you with this.
Note: A server install can take over 8hrs of phone time, for basic set up, depending on your skill/knowledge.
(Until I have full Admin Remote Control of the server there is No Guaranteed Results on this type of service.

You must know Basic TCP/IP, DNS Configure Firewall  Server Concepts, etc.
Because Until I get Remote Connection to the server, I can't physically help you.)
There is also an Option where I build the server and have it shipped to you.

What if I don't need full remote help, just a "On-Call" Weekend Support.
In the event you are doing a major upgrade and you want me "On-call" in case of emergency.
There is a 4hr per day minimum "On-Call" Charge. {Paid in Advanced}. What this does is make sure I'm available 24hrs that day,
To help you with your issues. (After 4 hrs of support the regular rates apply.)
Not paying for this in advance, means that I may be busy with other things and not be able to provide emergency support.

How far will you travel to install my SBS server?
I've had clients fly us to Washington DC to install a SBS2003 server.
*and had offers to install in Hong Kong however our schedule didn't permit it.
If you have a long distance install, please feel free to contact us.
(I love Installing SBS So much I'd probably go anywhere)
I've even been asked to go to China for a install, however our busy schedule did not allow it.
If you do this, I'd request you plan a Technician to be there 4-5 days minimum.
(And if it's out of the States please give us a month notice.)
I don't require First Class, basic Hotel with High-speed, and Rental Car, and small food allowance.
(Unless walking distance from place of work. Minimum cost for this, is $4,500 plus Expenses)

Microsoft Foundation Server 2008
Windows Server 2008 Foundation has a 15-user limit and is aimed at small-business users in both developed and developing markets. The product does not require Client Access Licenses (CALs) and therefore cannot be used to access other Windows Servers. (Likewise, Window Server CALs cannot be used to access Windows Server 2008 Foundation, Microsoft officials said.)
